The "Vulkangestein" opens with warm smoky notes, followed by aromas of green gooseberry, apple, lemon zest, white flowers, jasmine, violets, dark berries, and fresh herbs after aeration. It also carries a typical flinty reduction, though Tim Fröhlich now uses this technique with more subtlety. On the palate, it's precise, compact yet elegant, with a firm yet juicy texture, marked by fresh citrus, white peach, and green apple. The fine, creamy texture is balanced by vibrant acidity and mineral contours. The finish is long, with increasing salinity and stony coolness, making it a puristic, terroir-driven Riesling with excellent aging potential.
